Art Therapy is a
fairly new health profession that uses art images and the creative
process as a reflection of the self, inner conflicts and aspirations.
Rachel Ravid-Horesh, Kankinya's on site Art Therapist, tries to combine
2 prominent approaches in working with the frail elderly.
The Reality
Orientation Approach, which promotes contact with daily reality, is
incorporated into the creative process by using different collage
techniques for decorative projects related to the monthly calendar
themes (outings, holidays, seasons, etc.).
Validation Therapy is
a more supportive and therapeutic approach. It can be put into practice
by the introduction of creative experiences that invite, in a supporting
surrounding, self-expression and self-exploration.
On Winter Fair Day an
exhibition of some of the art works made by the residents will be
displayed for you to appreciate and enjoy. You are all welcome!
